CHILDRESS, JOACHIM & KUKSHT:  STYLES AND PERSPECTIVES, Gill Gallery

This exhibition is a collaboration of three abstract artists:  a painter Tazio Childress, a sculptor Marilyn Kuksht, and a painter painter/sculptor Ralph Joachim. Two styles of abstract painting (Abstract Expressionism and Neo-Plasticism) interact with two styles of abstract sculpture to create multiple perspectives and a variety of visual sensations to challenge the viewer.

Lesley Anne Spowart – Creature Comforts, Dyke Gallery

I have always loved animals so it would make sense that these wonderful creatures provided me with a sense of comfort and assurance, especially beginning in 2019.During that time, life, animation and color, began to express itself in my work.  The world went on and there was a sense of hope and renewal for me.  These pieces are reflective of that sensibility.

Barbara Lee Furbush – Perspectives: Reflections on/of Self, Annand Gallery

Who Am I? Aesop’s Animals, Community: Stand As One...

You are invited to reflect upon yourself (we rarely get to turn our attention to ourself...) My works encourage participation by setting up materials and instructions. These works often seem child-like but create moments of deep self-reflection. The themes of the works explore the truths we have learned, our feelings about intense topics, and how we see ourselves.

Katie Simpson – Thicket Hearted Spring, Boyer Gallery

Katie Simpson’s mixed media acrylic paintings explore natural environments and the spaces where people are changed by and change nature. Each painting is a celebration of sidewalk cracks, gravel lots, and magical Central Coastal California. Nature thrives in unexpected spaces and is everywhere around us - something is always breaking down and also moving upward to begin the world again. Focusing on the lush and diligent natural world by combining painting, collage, drawing, and relief printmaking, this work invites viewers to examine their own relationships with nature.

Big Sur Charter School – Naturally We Love Art, Small Halls

Each day we try to notice the awe moments in nature and then capture them in our art.
