"A Culinary Evening in Brittany" evening free event on Wednesday, October 21st to be held at Crepes of Brittany in Downtown Monterey

September 15, 2026, Monterey, CA.  — Crepes of Brittany will present a special "A Culinary Evening in Brittany" free event on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 6 pm–7:30 pm at the restaurant, located at 211 Alvarado Street in Downtown Monterey.

Owners Daniel Peron and Thierry Crocquet will take guests behind the scenes to explore the fascinating history of crepe-making and the rich culinary and cultural traditions of Brittany, France. The evening will feature a live crepe-making demonstration, followed by a complimentary tasting "flight" of the restaurant's signature sweet and savory crepes. Guests will also have an opportunity to ask questions during an interactive question-and-answer session.

Space is limited, and RSVPs are appreciated by emailing crepesofbrittany@gmail.com.

Crepes trace their origins to the Brittany region of France as early as the 13th century and have evolved from simple regional fare into one of France's most beloved culinary traditions. Deeply connected to Breton culture, the art of crepe-making combines history, technique and tradition, offering a delicious glimpse into the coastal heritage of Brittany. More information about Brittany and its culinary traditions can be found on the Crepes of Brittany website.

"We're excited to share not only how we make our crepes, but also the history and traditions behind them," said Daniel Peron, co-owner of Crepes of Brittany. "For us, crepe-making is about much more than preparing a meal. It is a tradition that connects us to where we came from, and this event gives us a wonderful opportunity to share a little bit of Brittany with our Monterey community."

Special Programs for Seniors, Military and Loyal Customers

Crepes of Brittany also continues its Crepes of Brittany Seniors Program to recognize local residents age 55 and older. Seniors who show a current Monterey County ID receive a 15% discount on Mondays and Thursdays (new days!) as a thank-you to the community that has supported the restaurant over the years.

To honor members of the military, those presenting a military ID receive 15% off daily.

The restaurant also continues its popular Crepes of Brittany VIP Card Program. Patrons can pick up a VIP card while dining at the restaurant and, after five prior crepe purchases, receive a free sweet crepe of any flavor on the menu.

"Our customers have helped Crepes of Brittany grow from a tiny location with just a few tables into the restaurant we are today," said Thierry Crocquet, co-owner of Crepes of Brittany. "Programs for our local seniors, military members and loyal guests are simple ways for us to say thank you while continuing the warm hospitality that has always been such an important part of what we do."

"One of the most rewarding parts of owning Crepes of Brittany is seeing familiar faces return again and again and welcoming new guests through our doors," said Daniel Peron, co-owner. "Our VIP card and senior discount give us another opportunity to show our appreciation, while continuing the friendly, welcoming experience that has been part of Crepes of Brittany since we first opened in Monterey."

Together, these programs reflect Crepes of Brittany's ongoing commitment to its community, quality and the French culinary traditions that have made the restaurant a Monterey favorite for 16 years.

About Crepes of Brittany

Owned by Daniel Peron and Thierry Crocquet, natives of Brittany and Normandy in Northern France, respectively, Crepes of Brittany was founded on a shared commitment to authenticity, craftsmanship and hospitality, inspired by the traditional regional flavors of their native France.

Thierry and Daniel first met in 2008 at Daniel's former restaurant, Taste of Brittany, in Stockton, California, and reconnected two years later. United by their culinary philosophy and French heritage, they selected Monterey as the home for an authentic French creperie.

The original Crepes of Brittany opened in 2010 on Old Fisherman's Wharf, beginning in a small corner of a coffee shop with only a handful of tables. Despite its modest size, the location gave Daniel and Thierry the opportunity to establish the high standards for food quality and customer service that would become hallmarks of the restaurant. Traditional techniques and carefully sourced ingredients helped create an authentic regional French dining experience rarely found in the area.

Six years later, following steady growth and strong community support, Crepes of Brittany moved to its current stand-alone location near Old Fisherman's Wharf and the Portola Hotel & Spa. The restaurant offers seating for 45 guests indoors and 40 guests al fresco.

The restaurant's French character extends beyond its menu. Guests will find numerous eye-catching decorative touches, including posters, a fishing net, porcelain plates and painted trays, along with four large crepe griddles used to prepare the restaurant's signature creations.

A Cultural Roots Story

Brittany—Bretagne in French and Breizh in the Breton language—is located in northwestern France, bordered by Normandy to the northeast and extending westward into the Atlantic Ocean. It has a lot of similarity to the Central Coast of the Monterey Peninsula.  The region's maritime landscapes, traditions, and distinctive cuisine strongly influence the flavors and philosophy behind Crepes of Brittany. The capital of Brittany is Rennes, and its culinary legacy remains central to the restaurant's identity.
