 Please save the date! Junipero Parlor 141, invites the community to enjoy a fascinating talk by Mimi Sheridan on Monday, April 13th from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The presentation will be held at Casa Serrano, a beautiful historic adobe owned by the Monterey History & Art Association, located at 412 Pacific Street in Downtown Monterey.

The lecture will focus on "Margaret Jacks and Her Legacy". Presenter Mimi Sheridan, will describe the Jacks family and show how Margaret, who is virtually forgotten now, shaped the Monterey we know today through her determined advocacy and targeted donations of her family's money and property.

About Mimi Sheridan

Mimi Sheridan is a native of San Francisco and a graduate of the University of California Santa Barbara. She has lived in Pacific Grove since 2016 and is currently president of the Monterey State Historic Park Association. For many years, she lived in Seattle, where she earned a Master's Degree in Urban Planning and Historic Preservation from the University of Washington. She worked as a consultant in neighborhood and architectural history, community planning, and regulatory compliance. She also taught historic preservation in UW's urban planning program and the Osher program.

The Native Daughters of the Golden West Junipero Parlor 141 in Monterey, CA is one of over 80 chapters within the state of California.  Established in 1886, the Native Daughters of the Golden West is a non-profit organization of individuals born in California who are dedicated to the preservation of California's history and the social and cultural development of the State. The Native Daughters of the Golden West Foundation contributes to many charitable projects. The Native Daughters of the Golden West also has a Children's Foundation. The organization's Golden West Home in San Francisco is celebrating 92 years on Baker Street. Julia Morgan, the famed architect of Hearst Castle and Asilomar Conference Grounds, drew the plans for this facility. www.ndgw.org
