Salinas City Center Farmer’s Market features special Mother’s Day Family Activities

Salinas City Center Farmer’s Market features special Mother’s Day Family Activities at the Michelle’s Creations booth on Saturday, May 8th

April 2021. Salinas, CA. Don’t miss a fun Mother’s Day outing to the Michelle’s Creations interactive booth during the Salinas City Farmer’s Market on Salinas Street at Gabilan Street on Saturday, May 8th from 10:00 am – 1:30 pm.  Kids and their families will learn to have lots of fun with flowers and much more!

Bring the whole family to the Salinas City Center Farmer’s Market, operated by the Oldtown Salinas Foundation. The market is open every Saturday from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. While you’re there, be sure to stop off at the Michelle’s Creations family booth which will feature many fun flower and craft activities, along with a visit with Michelle’s domestic rescue rabbit, Hopper the Bunny, a therapy bunny.

Special for Mother’s Day, Michelle Corrales will host a Mother’s Day Family Flower Arranging Workshop Station, in addition to her popular weekly plant and floral art workshops and arts and crafts. Other activities include a succulent workshop, how to build a mini-terrarium/fairy garden workshop, and her special Spread A Smile activity, where she gives the children sunflower seeds to plant in their yards and for them to give to a friend and “pay it forward”. She also has special crafts projects for the very little ones who have their very own nearby space.

These are socially distanced, family friendly outdoor events following all recommended safety protocols. Participants are required to wear masks and there is also a sanitation station.

About Michelle Corrales

Born in Los Banos, Michelle Corrales grew up in a dairy and flower grower family who later moved to the Watsonville area.  She has recently taken over the flower growing business from her parents, adding indoor and outdoor plant growing as well. Her parents, who have retired, still love to help her grow her business. Michelle is also well known for her floral designs for weddings and funerals. Of Portuguese descent, Michelle, who is now 39 years old, is trilingual and fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. She has two children, a 17-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son, who enjoy helping her at the Farmer’s Market, along with her husband. Her sister works on researching more sustainable gardening practices while raising her young children.  Michelle has a strong passion and enthusiasm for working with kids of all ages. She has found so much joy teaching hundreds of kids since she started her activity center at the Salinas City Center Farmer’s Market how to appreciate working with plants and flowers and combine art with nature in their own lives.

Donations are welcome to keep Michelle’s Creations “growing” each week so she can accommodate more kids and families at the Farmer’s Market. She is also seeking volunteers who love working with kids, too!

Michelle has been involved with a kids’ activities booth at the Salinas City Center Farmer’s Market for two years. According to Michelle, “I really like teaching kids how to have fun with flowers and plants and help develop their respect and love for nature. I also recognize that it reduces stress and helps them calm down and focus, finding their inner artist as they enjoy working with the beautiful flowers and plants. I have many “regulars” who visit our booth and truly enjoy the interactive activities each week at the Salinas City Center Farmer’s Market. When kids might otherwise be bored walking around while their parents shop for food, they get excited about learning how to plant sunflowers and succulents. My goal is to “grow” the array of fun plant and flower activities and the support of the community through donations would be deeply appreciated."

To donate, email Michelle at [email protected] or call 831-229-8060 or drop off a check made out to Michelle Corrales at her booth on Saturday morning. A check can also be mailed to Michelle Corrales, P.O. Box 1141, Freedom, CA 95019.
