Sugar Science to host two "Create Your Own Lucky Masterpiece St. Patrick's Cake Decorating Classes"  on Sunday, March 16th

February 2026. Carmel, CA – Sharon Runde, owner of Sugar Science, a handcrafted baking company, invites the community to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with a festive and hands-on cake decorating experience on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

This special class offers students the opportunity to learn professional decorating techniques while creating their own St. Patrick's Day-themed cake to take home. Participants will be provided with a two layer Vanilla Bean cake square and will be guided step-by-step through decorative piping and festive design elements inspired by the holiday.

Designed for all skill levels, the experience focuses on creativity, fun, and the joy of working with beautiful, high-quality ingredients. Whether attending with friends, family, or solo, guests can expect a relaxed and welcoming environment that reflects Sugar Science's signature blend of artistry and hospitality.

About Sharon Runde and Sugar Science

Sharon Runde has grown up baking her entire life. She is a 4th generation baker, and learned something new and special from her Great Grandmother, Grandmother, and Mother. Each generation specialized in their own favorite desserts and treats, and Sharon spent her childhood learning from her maternal mentors.

Later, Sharon spent her 20-year career at The Naval Postgraduate School as a Faculty Associate for Research conducting scientific research for the military. Providing a unique approach, she has blended her passion for scientific research and her childhood love of baking to create unique and delicious custom creations for her community.

Sugar Science is known for its handcrafted, science-backed baking and custom creations for private, corporate, and special events throughout the Monterey Peninsula. Hand crafted desserts including gorgeous cakes, pies, brownies, cookies and more are available with an advance order for every occasion. Whether it's a birthday, anniversary, wedding or baby shower, bachelor/bachelorette party, class reunion, company party, celebration of life, welcome home, or "just because", Sugar Science specializes is creating a unique, thoughtful and delicious custom creation for every occasion.

Sharon Runde is also a regular contributor on the local television program Monterey in Tonight, where she features a new dessert each week.
