With over 30 years of experience, Brickman Marketing has navigated the ever-changing waters of Public Relations, Digital Marketing, Events and More!

In the world of Public Relations, what is important at the beginning are all of the local media that pertain to a client's product, service, event or organization. Regional and national media can also be achieved depending on the project but in this era of limited journalists, start with the local  media to jumpstart visibility.

Case Study #1: Old Fisherman's Wharf 175th Wharf Birthday Photo Contest

Old Fisherman's Wharf is celebrating its 175th Birthday in 2020. That's cause for a celebration event and each year we have a great birthday party with a live band (The Money Band), free birthday cake with the first slice cut by Monterey's Mayor Clyde Roberson, Stilt Walkers, and more activities...but not during the Pandemic. Therefore, I came up with the 175th Wharf Birthday Photo Contest where entrants could email us photos they took...from the past 175 years. We received lots of PR before and afterwards locally and even regionally as Old Fisherman's Wharf is a major popular attraction in Monterey. For Christmas on the Wharf, where we again could not have a live Santa, we decorated to the hilt with our gorgeous Christmas tree, added a sound and light show and a new photo themed photo contest, All Things Gingerbread Photo Contest, which is also receiving some good PR.

Case Study #2: Pacific Grove Art Center's An Evening in Paris

Pacific Grove Art Center is a beautiful 10,000 square foot space with 4 large galleries and hallways plus artist studios that are rented. It is an ideal location for interesting events surrounded by changing art exhibits. An Evening in Paris was planned to highlight "A Moment in Paris" with artist Meredith Gallery that included dozens of fascinating photos of Paris.  We added a few additional elements incuding guitar music by Scott Keister, a poem inspired by Paris read by author Dr. Barbara Mossberg, a presence by Chef/Author Mary Chamberlin whose cookbooks had many recipes from France and French-inspired cuisine prepared by Catering by Carmen Nazar. We provided several appetizers including French Leek Soup, Chicken Croquettes, Croques Monsieur with ham and without and an array of pastel decorated macarons. French wine and perrier were included.  We also included a free drawing at the end with many art-themed prizes. This all proved to be a magical formula to create a very successful sold out event! Creating an event with delicious food, an overall appealing theme appropriate for the venue and good marketing is important for a well-attended event.
