Classic Car Week Driver Reception at Cobp

Check it out at Cibo! The heart of historic downtown Monterey will be transformed into an outdoor motorsports museum when authentic historic race cars line Alvarado Street between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, August 9th as WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca kicks off the 2019 Monterey Classic Car Week activities. For race participants, it is an opportunity to showcase their race cars to the community in a festive family environment.

 

Be sure to stop by and celebrate Classic Car Week at Cibo Ristorante Italiano, 301 Alvarado Street in Downtown Monterey (831) 649-8151.  Between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, August 9th, Cibo is hosting a special Classic Car Week Driver Reception that will be open to the public at 5 p.m. with complimentary appetizers and drink specials until 7 p.m. Come meet some of the drivers on the patio or inside the Cibo Bar. There will be live jazz music beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Cibo Bar is open from 4 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and features drink specials and tasty small bites appetizers daily from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

 

Cibo offers an extensive high quality local and international wine and beer list, cordials, microbrews, rare and small batch Bourbons, Scotches, Ports, Grappa and liqueurs, as well as espresso, coffee drinks and a full menu of cocktails. Cibo is proud to be a generous supporter of the event.

About Classic Car Week

 

WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca presents the official kickoff to Monterey Classic Car Week with Cars on Alvarado Street where historic race cars drive from the race track to Downtown Monterey via California Highway Patrol escort and are parked for display at the free event on Friday, August 9 from 5-7 p.m.

 

Over 300 period-correct machines with race provenance compete on the 11-turn, 2.238-mile road course during the Monterey Pre-Reunion on August 10-11. The crown jewel of Monterey Classic Car Week is the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion on August 15-18.

 

The four-day event is a motorsports museum springing to life on the race track with 550 cars in 15 runs groups that range chronologically from a 1911 National Speedway Roadster in Group 1A to a 1995 Nissan 240SX in Group 7B. The motorsports histories of Nissan and Datsun are being celebrated with Nissan as the featured marque.

Cibo also presents live music 6 nights a week with no cover charge. On Sundays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, the cool sounds of jazz accompany dinner from 7 pm to 10 pm. Enjoy a party atmosphere and dancing to a lively mix of soul, funk, classic rock and R&B dance music on Friday and Saturday nights from 9 pm to 12:30 am. They also have their popular Happy Hour All Night Long on Thursday nights. Cibo also presents live music 6 nights a week.
