KRML Radio’s “Hats Off to Mac” Celebration at Cibo Ristorante Italiano on Thursday, April 3
March, 2014. Monterey, CA. — Community icon Mac McDonald has left the Monterey County Herald as its GO! editor and music columnist, and KRML Radio has planned a celebration to thank Mac About Town for his 22 years as a local beacon for entertainment news.
Join KRML at Cibo Ristorante Italiano, 301 Alvarado St., in downtown Monterey on Thursday, April 3rd from 5:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. for this special “Hats Off To Mac” celebration, featuring a KRML live broadcast, live music, late-night DJ, dancing, free passed appetizers from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., drink specials (including the tequila-based “Mac Attack” Cocktail), prizes, raffles and a special hat contest (sponsored by the official hat store of Mac McDonald, The Hat Shop Carmel). Founded in 1990, the award-winning Cibo Ristorante Italiano offers Italian cuisine, gourmet pizzas, cocktails, fine wines, cordials, and more. Cibo (pronounced chee-bo) means “food” in Italian, but it’s more of a feast for the senses. KRML is a community focused radio station (1410 AM, 102.1 FM and streaming at www.krml.com) with a musical format that touches many genres and digs deep into albums. KRML supports local events and nonprofits and has become a visible part of the Monterey Bay scene in just 16 months on the air. For years a jazz station, KRML earned famed by appearing in Clint Eastwood’s directorial debut “Play Misty for Me.” In October of 2012, KRML switched formats under the direction of owner Scot McKay, who died in 2013 but got to see his vision of community radio come to pass.
